Finally got out on the water over the weekend and found the Odyssey to be a very stable platform to fish off of even in mild chop know to the intercostal waterway in ozello. Kayak is is responsive and very quick in the water. Glad I held out on this purchase and found a local company to go through. Awesome deal and awesome kayak. Wife will probably be in the market soon and I know where we will be going!
This model looks so much better in person I am beyond happy and has absolutely exceeded my expectations.
My wife and I purchased two Odyssey 10 Kayaks. Their size and weight were perfect for us. They are very stable in the water, and today we had no trouble paddling against the incoming tide. When we decided to head back, we let the current do most of the work.
Customer service, both before and after the sale, has been excellent. We were confident and comfortable enough to drive down from North Florida to Safety Harbor and try out several of the models that Tampa Bay Paddle Company had to offer. We liked everything we tried, but the Odyssey 10 was the right fit for us. Mike is awesome to do business with and truly puts the customer first. If any of my extended family wants a kayak, we will definitely be buying from TBPC.
First off, Mike is GREAT to work with A+ customer service!! Even called me back on a Sunday. That speaks volumes!!
Now about the Yak:
Stability is great, I feel very comfortable going from sitting to standing and back and forth. Pedal system is smooth and it goes, I'll be in shape in no time. Not going to lie, its a workout but this coming from a guy who hasn't peddled in 20 yrs. It's spacious, has all the compartments you could need. Haven't really used the 360 swivel seat but it's an added bonus..
A couple dislikes:
First time I took it out the turning radius was not good. I ended up taking the white, I'll call handle stop pins, out. HUUUGE difference!! It turns on a dime and tracks well. So if you buy this Yak take those pins out, you can thank me later. Only one rod holders in front, can use the 2 that typically come behind the seat. I fixed up a crate and added 2 to the crate and that seems to be suffice. Really the only 2 things I could mention in a somewhat negative way.
Overall im very pleased with my purchase and I'd highly recommend TBPC. Tight lines and happy Yakking, see you on the water.
We had such a great experience with Tampa Bay Paddle Company! Mike and his wife are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. You can tell they really care about helping customers find the right fit, not just making a sale.
They let us test the kayak on the water first—totally free—which gave us confidence in our decision. We bought 2 of the Odyssey 12, and they are awesome! They also offer free delivery, which was super convenient, and even financing options if you need it.
It’s rare to find this level of customer service and honesty. If you’re in the market for a kayak or paddle gear, this is the place to go!
